Our residents enjoyed a fun game of pancake tossing and a host of tasty treats to celebrate Pancake Day.
Huge thanks go to our teams who put their thinking caps on to organise some special Covid-safe activities to ensure our residents could participate and indulge in the annual festivities of Shrove Tuesday.
Pancake Day fun at Great Oaks
At Great Oaks in Bournemouth, our residents had pancakes for their afternoon tea, which were accompanied by a generous choice of delicious toppings including lemon, sugar, golden syrup, fruit, whipped cream and chocolate sauce. They also hosted a pancake flipping competition to see who could flip their pancake the highest.
Great Oaks resident, Andre Mauger, took great delight in the pancake flipping competition, having formerly worked as a patisserie chef in Bournemouth, before working as the Chef de Cuisine at the Pavilion for 20 years. Andre went on to retire before deciding he would come out of retirement to work at the BIC for five years to mentor the junior members of the kitchen team.
Shrove Tuesday at Fairmile Grange
Meanwhile in Christchurch, our Fairmile Grange residents tucked into their stack of pancakes at dinner time, and over at Hamble Heights in Fareham, the residents also took part in a pancake flipping contest, and savoured fresh pancakes which were cooked to order.
Strict Covid-19 protocols are in place with all of our care home residents being tested on a weekly basis, with staff accessing twice-weekly Lateral Flow rapid testing.
