An exciting month at Fairmile Grange care home

To celebrate National Pizza Day on Saturday, February 9, our residents put their chef hats on and turned Fairmile Grange into a pizzeria. Everyone had so much fun making their own bases and choosing their favourite toppings to create their favourite pizza. With the help of our catering team, our residents then put their handmade creations into the ovens and waited patiently until they were baked, crispy and ready to enjoy. As the kitchen is often seen as the heart of the home and is where our residents have so many fond memories, we always plan different activities in the kitchen environment.

As well as celebrating National Pizza Day, one of our residents was given a very special birthday treat this month. Our lovely resident Pauline and her husband Tom have been AFC Bournemouth fanatics for many years and used to be season ticket holders. After we heard AFC Bournemouth were playing Wolves at home last Saturday, which coincided with Pauline’s birthday, our wellbeing team contacted the football club to see if they were able to help us find a way to get Pauline and Tom tickets to the game. After hearing about Pauline’s loyalty to the club, AFC Bournemouth provided two tickets and made Pauline’s birthday wish come true.

Even though the final score was a draw, both Pauline and Tom had a lovely day and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. At half time AFC Bournemouth even wished Pauline a happy birthday over the tannoy, which made the day even more special. We would like to say a big thank you to AFC Bournemouth for everything they did to help us arrange this and we wish the club the best of luck for the rest of the season!
