A taste of Wimbledon comes to Fairmile Grange

Inspired by the Wimbledon Championships, our staff and residents headed to Centre Court last week to take part in their own table tennis tournament.

Our residents and staff cheered the team on with pom-poms and a Mexican wave to encourage them to keep on playing. After several matches it was obvious that Reece, one of our wellbeing volunteers, was Fairmile Grange’s own Djokovic and was crowned the best player of Fairmile Grange.

To toast Reece’s success we all enjoyed strawberries and cream in the shade, as after all no Wimbledon tournament would be complete without this traditional treat.

Encore recently pledged to offer every resident the opportunity to spend one hour outdoors every week as part of our Breath of Fresh Care initiative. This tournament encouraged everyone to come together to enjoy the sunshine in our landscaped garden. Not only does getting outdoors improve the health of our residents, but also their wellbeing if they spend time outside in the daylight and fresh air.

Due to the summer heatwave, our residents have been able to get outside more and our care team has ensured they are enjoying the glorious weather responsibly by sitting in the shade and staying hydrated at all times.

Our door is always open for visitors who are passing by, and we welcome the opportunity to show them around the home and our state-of-the-art facilities.
