Improving the day to day lives of our residents is what drives our teams.
Each of our care homes features a dedicated onsite Wellbeing team who organise a daily programme of activities for residents to enjoy, enabling them to boost their mental, physical, and emotional wellbeing while socialising together.
Whether it’s a visiting singer, a team quiz or a craft session, there’s something designed to appeal to every resident.
The Wellbeing team get know the people living in our homes as individuals, to understand their likes and dislikes, and they use this information to come up with new and varied activities to make sure any particular favourites can be included.
Each resident can choose whether they want to get involved or not, so if they’d prefer a quiet afternoon rather than watching the visiting entertainer, then that’s absolutely fine – we’re happy to accommodate everyone’s wishes as our teams understand the importance of living independently and making decisions for themselves. Equally, if a resident isn’t able to leave their room, the activities can be brought to them, and our Wellbeing team spend time each day making one to one visits to ensure everyone benefits from the additional stimulation an activity or just a chat can offer.
It’s not just activities led by our teams either. Pet therapy days are always popular, with dogs coming in to visit our residents and relishing the fuss and attention they receive. And pet visits aren’t limited to dogs, as one of our homes had ducks and chickens visit recently, and alpacas are regular visitors too! We have a range of entertainers who visit our homes to perform, with the song choices tailored to prompt residents’ memories of their youth.
We have extra-special celebrations for landmark birthdays or anniversaries, as well as garden parties, and themed activities for notable days during the year such as Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Remembrance Day. Christmas and New Year are special times in our homes with our Wellbeing teams on hand to make sure residents enjoy the festive season.
